Obama and the Train Gang

So, the new president elect is going to be taking the train through Baltimore to DC on Saturday. It will be a huge deal in Baltimore, and they are already closing streets downtown, creating havoc with traffic and bus routes two days early.

What’s even more is that in order to get to Baltimore, the president’s train will have to pass through my humble little town here, and they’ve scheduled a stop at the Aberdeen Train Station. Obama and Biden will come out onto the platform right here in Aberdeen, less than two miles from my home. A moment in history, right here in Aberdeen. I’m considering riding up there, taking the dog and the camera, trying to preserve this moment in history. The only thing that holds me back is the cold – I’m a bit worried that my knee won’t hold up well. He’s scheduled to stop around 2:45 in the afternoon. I may just go ahead and go for it – why not? How often do you get to see big history in the making?

Do it! Your knee will forgive you. Get there at 2:30, know that you won’t get to see anything until you watch the news later that night, but be there!

I’m taking the younger W to DC on Tuesday. He gets to skip school and be really really cold, and we won’t see a darned thing until we get home and watch the news, but when I told him he JUMPED for joy.
