Dagnabit!

I think I just committed to baking and bringing in cupcakes for the March of Dimes bake sale tomorrow.  Normally, not a big deal, except, I have my ultra sound scheduled for 6pm tonight.    I think the bake sale is also going on Thursday, so I can get them made tomorrow night after work.  Why do I open my mouth for these things??

We’re heading down to the trailer this weekend.  I’m excited.  I’ll be taking my paper that I’m currently working on, but other than that, I’m sitting around the trailer reading true crime and relaxing.  I need it.

I Love Spring

Daffodil

My flowers are blooming, the weather was 70 degrees, I got my homework done early.  Life is good.

Finally Feeling the Warmth on my Face

It’s a lovely spring day outside.  It’s nearly April, and that makes me happy.  I love springtime and all it brings.  My tulips are coming up (and immediately are being eaten by the deer), my daffodils are blooming, my day lillies are starting to sprout, my dog is hobbling less now that the weather is getting better, the grass is turning green, and the lovely little birds have returned to our feeder.

We looked at our calendar last night and figured we could actually get in an entire month’s worth of weekends at Trails End in April.  Happy happy!  Of course, I’ll be toting bags of homework with me, but it’s still Trails End – golf cart rides, campfires, dances, and reuniting with good friends we don’t get to see during the winter months.  Lovely lazy afternoons at our trailer make me a happy and refreshed person.  And NO CRUTCHES this year.  Yay!

May is going to be fast on April’s heels this year, and what a busy busy May we have in store for us.  Tons of birthdays (I think at last count there were 9 – 3 grandbabies, 3 nieces, 2 nephews and my sister-in-law), two graduations, a wedding, and a two week vacation.  The weekend before we leave we are trying to figure out how to balance Mr. G’s partner’s wedding on Saturday, my niece’s graduation Sunday and our youngest grand daughter’s first birthday party.  Plus we have to pack.  I think I’m going to take the graduation, and Mr. G is going to have to take the birthday party and of course the wedding.  Divide and conquer.  I am ready for the two week vacation though – that’s forsureyoubetcha.

So, now that the weather’s warming up, expect lots of pictures, and lots of posts and Trails End!

Important Announcement

I want some dark chocolate covered espresso beans please.

That is all.

Gettysburg

dsc00125

Bob and I decided to go up to Gettysburg today to hit up our favorite winery (Adams County Winery) and drive through the park.  We needed to fight a little cabin fever that was racking up, so we threw the dog in the car and headed up to the battlefield.

We headed to the winery first and picked up two cases of our favorites.  They have simply the best wine we’ve ever had.  I tried their new Rhed’s Lady and YUM.  Needless to say, we’re stocked for a while.  Then we headed over to Oak Hill to exercise the dog and enjoy our picnic lunch.  I had packed up some sammies and chips.  We were a little disappointed to see that someone had spray painted grafetti on the Eternal Light Peace Memorial.  People just have no concept of reverence, you know?  We spent some time up at Oak Hill, and then decided to drive around the confederate line down to Little Round Top and Devil’s Den (our favorite places at the battlefield).

Sadie really enjoyed the trip – and she’s doing well tonight – no whining or limping, which means her hips tolerated the car ride well.  We were back in MD by 3, so we spent the rest of the afternoon watching a movie (Over Her Dead Body – cute cute cute!) and then dinner before Mr. G left for his DJ gig.

It was really a lovely day – can’t wait to get to go back.  Welcome spring!

Single-Handedly Keeping Medical Professionals in Business

So, I just finished making the mirad of medical appointments I require over the next couple of weeks.

  • Cardiologist this Friday
  • Blood work Monday to test for anemia
  • Pelvic Ultrasound on 3/31
  • Orthopoedist on 4/6 for forearm issues

And before you all get excited about the ultrasound, I am NOT pregnant.  It’s for lady-problems, tyvm.  And to take a peek and make sure the ovaries are okie dokie because of my sister’s history.

Now the only thing I haven’t scheduled is my colonoscopy.  That means this year, I think I will have something scanned through just about every demeaning place a body has.  Oh yeah, this getting old is so much fun.

All Quiet

I’m avoiding using the computer after work as much as possible lately to save my arm, so the posting around here has been light.  I have a bunch of pictures to upload to flickr, and a post about this past weekend.  As soon as my arm feels better I’ll get them up.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled web surfing.
