What Have I Gotten Myself Into?

School started back up for the semester yesterday, and I can no longer hide behind my surgery for taking time off.  I’m once again attempting the Health Care IT class, and I feel a smidgealot over my head.  I know it will take time and immense hours of studying, and yes, I’ll get it, but right now, I feel overwhelmed and verklempt.

I know that school is the right decision, and I firmly believe that I want to work in a bariatric office.  This is an important decision for me, and a big huge career change, so I should expect that the classes are going to be challenging.  The Management classes not so much, as I’ve managed out the wazoo, but the health care classes, well, they are going to be rough.

I know as the semester goes on that I’ll start to feel more comfortable.  It’s hard going back to school (after taking two semesters off)…I got used to having my free time again.

I will do this.  But I will also whinge a bit about it.

Just because I can.

Talk Me Off The Ledge

I want to adopt an orange kitty.

We already have two pets, and they are enough.  I also know that right now is not the best of time to adopt another kitty.

It will have to wait.

But I want an orange kitty.

Back at It

Lots of start ups for me this week!

I’m back to work today after being off since last Thursday – busy busy busy.  Oh how busy!

My class starts on Thursday.  I’m taking the one I dropped last summer – Information Technology for Health Care Administrators.  This is going to be a rough one for me, but I’m kind of anxious to get back to school and get this thing rocking already.  No more dropping classes for me – even if it is SUMMER!

I’ve started working out daily.  It feels good to get moving, but today I am sore sore sore.  I am using the Biggest Loser game for my Wii every other day, and the Wii fit on the off days to make sure I’m getting at least 30 – 45 minutes of activity a day.  I am happy to report that for once, I can DO a 45 minute workout, instead of wanting to die after only about 10 minutes.  Today was a lower body workout on the Biggest Loser and OMG am I sore!  LOL   It’s going to be worth it though!

Did a lot of stuff around the home on my vacation.  We went to see Avatar on Friday and it was Awesome with a Captital Awesome.  Got to see my Mom, and get some scrapbooking done, so it was a good vacation.  Wish I were still off though!

Back to work for me!  TTFN

Staycation and Wii

So, today is my Friday, and then I’m off until next Tuesday.  Five glorious days off.  How delicious is that???  We aren’t going anywhere specific, but we have some activities planned.  Mostly I’m going to catch up on some housework, some crafts, and some family and friends.

Tomorrow I’m meeting up with my bestie.  She announced a little bit ago that she is expecting baby #3 and I can’t wait to see her.  Her family is having a rough go right now, and I really want her to know that I’m there supporting them all 110%.

Friday, Mr. G and I are going to go see Avatar.  I’m exciting.  First movie I’ve seen in the theater since Gran Torino.  Yay!

Monday, we are headed up to North East to do some antiquing and have lunch with my mom.

In other news, Mr. G just called.  Last week, I ordered a Wii and Wii Fit bundle and it was delivered today.  I’m so excited!  I’ve wanted one for two years now and I finally decided to treat myself – a bit of a late Christmas present…or maybe a “Congrats on losing that first 61 pounds” present.  Either way, it’s here and I can’t wait to start playing with it!

Pound for Pound Challenge

You all probably know I’m a big fan of the Biggest Loser. Last year, when they first sponsored the Pound for Pound challenge, I pledged and actually came short of my goal. This year, I’ve decided to pledge again. 50 pounds. Yep – since I’m still in my honeymoon phase surgically, I’m going all out gang busters to lose 50 pounds by June 1, 2010. I’m losing about 20 pounds per month, so even if I slow down, I still think its doable.

For those of you who don’t know, if you want to, you can pledge to lose weight. For every pound you lose, they will donate one pound of food to your local food bank. This year, they even have it set up so that you can input your zip code and it will designate the food bank closest to you. For me, it’s the Maryland Food Bank, which I have donated to in the past.

Hunger is something I never ever want to experience. Bob and I have been lucky enough (knock on wood) to have a comfortable existance, although we’ve both been poor. Neither of us probably even realized it at the time. Now that we are comfortable, I want to do something to help others out who can’t afford decent meals for their families, or their children.

For those of you who have resolved to lose weight/get healthy/what have you, I think this is a great motivator. Wish me luck! And if you want to sign up, you can go to the Pound for Pound Challenge Website

SNOW is a Four Letter Word

OK now…it was novel when we got 22 inches the week before Christmas, but it has now snowed once a week every single week since.  I’m getting kind of sick of it.  Woke up this morning to another inch on the ground (not enough to slow things up – I headed to work)…what’s up???  Seriously???

I mean, I know we live in the mid-Atlantic, and yes, we get winter here.  Fine and dandy.  Peachy keen, Jellybean.  But seriously – I’m used to maybe once or twice a year.  NOT once or twice a week.

Sigh.  This is why we don’t move to Colorado.

Come on SPRING!
